The inaugural season became a massive success for the Golden State Valkyries, who are now trying to achieve even more remarkable goals in the 2026 season. Coach Natalie Nakase already set a target for the franchise, and the addition of Gabby Williams just falls perfectly for the team to achieve that goal.
The team had a solid 2-0 start to the season, but stumbled against the Chicago Sky, who also improved in the offseason and won their opening game. The French star opened up on the loss and also pointed out what impacted the team’s offensive flow.

Gabby Williams Talks About Rough Offensive Night
The former Seattle Storm star had been one of the key additions to the Valkyries team, who lost many front-court players in the offseason. While she played in just three games with the side, she already became one of the team’s primary scorers, as the team scored 90+ points in both opening games.
But the Chicago Sky defense held the team to 63 points, handing them their first loss of the season. Analyzing the game, Williams said, “They did a good job of forcing us into shots that are out of our flow and out of our rhythm.”

Natalie Nakase Praises Gabby Williams Impact in a Short Time
Before joining the side, Williams highlighted how the franchise owner effectively pitched her the plan for the Valkyries. Now, after signing a multi-year contract, the player has become an integral part of that project, and the coach also loves the addition of the 29-year-old.
“We’re just so excited how much she’s sitting really well with us,” Golden State head coach Natalie Nakase said of Williams. “Her selflessness in the way she plays — it just fits perfectly.”
