The Dallas Wings finally won the first overall pick, winning the lottery draft for the second consecutive year. The Texas franchise could raid the UConn roster once again and take away their prized asset of the 2025-26 season – Azzi Fudd.
The pairing of Paige Bueckers and Azzi Fudd at the Wings is very intriguing and also a deadly one, seeing them playing together at UConn. The Seattle Storm’s Gabby Williams understands the possible consequences of the pairing and subtly warned the league with her comments in her recent podcast interview.

Gabby Williams With Hilarious Wish For Azzi Fudd
The WNBA All-Star was on Azzi Fudd’s ‘Fudd Around and Find Out’ podcast, where she answered many questions, including the Arlington-born star’s possible entry in the league.
Wishing her a good season, Williams was cocky and said, “I am really wondering how this is gonna play this year. I want you to have a good season but not too good.”
The star was clearly talking about the 5-foot-11 guard going top pick with the Wings and pairing with Paige Buckers. Looking at her last and current season performance, the shooting guard could fit in any franchise perfectly and will be a valuable addition, but with Wings and Minnesota having the first two picks, Seattle will not get Fudd on their roster.

Knowing this, and seeing her as a competitor on the court, the two-time NCAA Champion spoke her heart out. Everyone had a good laugh at it, as it was an honest reaction from Williams.
While the former UConn star’s wish is a subtle warning for the rest of the teams in the league, she might see the Fudd-Bueckers pair against her Seattle Storm as ESPN’s analyst advises the Texas franchise to go for Azzi Fudd.
ESPN’s Analyst Puts Azzi Fudd As Top Pick Of 2026 WNBA Season
Dallas Wings GM Curt Miller warns the franchise of expansion draft challenges just after winning the lottery, as the side is looking to nail its first overall pick, but now gets sound advice from a WNBA analyst. Chiney Ogwumike was on the NBA Today show following the lottery draft, and her advice to the lottery winners was clear – getting the 2025 NCAA MOP. She highlighted her shooting efficiency as a key factor for the selection and mentioned that the team could benefit from her addition.
Ogwumike said, “One thing that translates in the WNBA is shooting. I would not be surprised if Azzi Fudd is the number one pick. She’s someone that’s leading them in scoring so far and has had multiple games with multiple threes. So she’s a shooter, and that’s good.”
The Wings missed offensive support to PB in the 2025 season, and the 2026 top prospect not only thrives in scoring, but she is also handy at the defensive end. Having played with Buckers for three seasons, the player also has great on-court chemistry with the franchise’s star player, and their off-court chemistry could be another reason for her selection.
