While many swathe Unrivaled’s 3-on-3 fast-paced format as the place where rookies will dominate the games, veteran stars like Marina Mabrey and others stepped up big. Chelsea Gray took over Rose BC’s offence, leading the defending champions to a 2-0 start. Another veteran guard who made a statement is Kelsey Plum, who stepped up on the Unrivalled court in just her second game.
The Phantom BC was up against the Lunar Owls, with both sides losing their opening games in season 2. While Marina Mabrey did her bit for the Owls, Plum decided to take things into her hands, setting a record in the process.

Kelsey Plum Setting Record In Unrivaled
Phantom BC is already shorthanded following Satou Sabally’s unavailability for season 2. Sabally shares cryptic message after indefinite Unrivaled absence due to concussion. The Sparks’ guard, though, had to take a more offensive role to win the game for her side.
Marina Mabrey scored 32 points in 21 minutes of gameplay, while Plum exploded for 38 points in 20 minutes as the Phantom side won the game 94-60. Her 38-point outing is the highest score by a player in a single game.

Plum also had 11 assists and eight rebounds in the game to control the game right from the start. The 31-year-old shot 16-of-22 from the field and netted 50% of her range shots. Aliyah Boston is another star who delivered a double-double for her team, scoring 21 points and grabbing 10 rebounds, as the Phantom side recorded its first win of the season.

Kelsey Plum Opens Up On Joining Unrivaled League
The veteran guard passed on the opportunity to join the league in 2024, as she decided to take an offseason following the Olympic Games and the hectic 2024 season. In the 2025 season, she took a major step, leaving the Aces and joining the Sparks to lead a young, talented team in the league. Now she is leading the Phantom BC in the unrivaled league.
Upon joining the Unrivaled, she said, “Last year obviously I wanted to play. It just wasn’t the right time for me personally, but definitely supported from afar. I got the opportunity to say yes this year and I’m super excited about it. I’m super excited … excited for the opportunity to get better.”
The Unrivaled league helped her teammates, Azura Sevens and Dearica Hamby, improve on the court. While the two-time champion already proved herself on a big stage, she might get a chance to recruit a few stars for the Sparks via her Unrivaled connection or enjoy the 3-on-3 format of the game.
