The 2025 NCAA Champions are unstoppable at the moment, even with a few faces. A key factor in their success is the performance of their core players. Azzi Fudd and Sarah Williams started the season where they left off in April 2025, combining well for Geno Auriemma’s team.
Senior guard Azzi Fudd praised UConn teammate Strong for her continued improvement this season, and in the latest college game, she showed why she is worth that praise.

Sarah Strong Records Double-Double In Dominant Win
The UConn team is the clear favorite for the NCAA championship right now, despite losing its key player, Paige Bueckers, in the WNBA draft. Even though their championship earned her top spot in the ranking, their gameplay justifies the position.
The Madrid-born star was a decisive piece in the many games and already recorded her career high of 29 points in the season against Ohio State. Even Paige Bueckers had a 4-word reaction to Sarah Strong’s domination in that game. In the recent match against South Florida, she led the game with 14 points and 10 rebounds, both game highs.

This was the sophomore forward’s fourth double-double, leading the side to the 8-0 run in the season. Azzi Fudd provided support in the game and scored 10 points while L’Or Mputu gave sole fight in the match-up with 12 points and seven rebounds in Ohio State’s 51-85 loss.

While the UConn fans are still transitioning from Paige Buecker’s move to the WNBA, the talented forward ensures that the team stays perfect on the court with her all-around play.
Sarah Strong Could Actually Be The Best Player In College Basketball
The UConn Prodigy set a record for the NCAA Final, becoming the first player to score at least 20 points and 15 rebounds with five assists in the game. While that wasn’t enough to highlight her capabilities, the star showed she has no ceiling with another strong season.

She is the only forward since Aliyah Boston to control the game on both ends of the floor. In the last six seasons, the guards dominated the stats (except AB), and now the 19-year-old is showing the same dominance. Especially with the talent-rich roster in the country’s number 1 team, she is the brightest star and leads the team with a five-assist average at the moment.
If she were eligible for the WNBA draft, she would have been clearly the number one pick, depending on her performances so far with the UConn team.
