There is hardly any franchise left without a player receiving medical attention in the 2025 WNBA season. The Chicago Sky also suffered injury issues with veteran guard Courtney Vandersloot, who suffered a season-ending injury after playing just seven games. Now, rookie Hailey Van Lith is also on the verge of similar treatment.
But HC Tyler Marsh is hoping for her return. He mentioned that the team will take the final call soon. The Sky will be facing the Las Vegas Aces next, with the Chicago Sky confirming Angel Reese’s first-half suspension.
Tyler Marsh Wishes To Play Hailey Van Lith In Remaining Games
The Chicago Sky is already out of the playoff race and looking to make the best out of the remaining games to finish the season strong. They will be facing strong opponents with two games against the Aces and a final game against the New York Liberty remaining. But it could also be an opportunity for the rookies and the team to test their abilities against stronger opposition, allowing them to learn from the best players.

The former LSU star didn’t get the career start she was hoping for with limited gametime and injuries. Looking at her recent injury and the remaining games, an interviewer asked HC Marsh whether he would look to shut down the player for the remainder of the season.
“We’re still holding out hope on a return, she’s still getting the treatment that she needs, and you don’t want to rush anything with where we are at in the season. Obviously, with the season winding down we’re getting close to making a decision on that. We’re hopeful, but it’s a wait-and-see kinda thing,” Marsh answered the question.

The 22-year-old guard played in 29 games so far in the season and hasn’t reached her potential yet. Recently, she missed five games in a row, further capping her development in the league.
Hailey Van Lith’s Frustrating Rookie Season
The Chicago Sky made multiple trades to move up in the WNBA draft and selected the TCU star as the 11th overall pick. Angel Reese hyped up teaming up with her former teammate and even promised to win the championship with her. HVL had been great for her college teams, leading them to the elite eight every season.
But the player’s WNBA life was miserable. She was an understudy of Courtney Vandersloot. But even after the veteran guard’s season-ending injury, the 5-foot-9 guard couldn’t take advantage of the extra game time.
In a recent interview, Hailey Van Lith talked about her struggles in the league as she stands with 3.5 points, one rebound and 1.6 assists in nearly 13 minutes of game time. Returning or not returning this season, the fighter will be looking to make more impact in her sophomore season for sure.
