The 2026 draft not only had deep talent but also glamor, with many college stars arriving in designer dresses and placing great importance on their looks. Veteran stylist highlighted behind-the-scenes work for Awa Fam as the Spanish sensation dazzled in the whole red look. Another player who stole the spotlight was Taniya Latson.
The South Carolina star was one of the top picks in the WNBA draft, with discussions around her possible fit in various franchises heating up. Though the player eventually landed in LA, her look also stole the show.

Taniya Latson Provides Reason For Her Draft Night Look
The 22-year-old star walked the orange carpet in a black-sequined NBD Janhvi Maxi Dress. Interestingly, the combination with the dress was very unique, giving it an even more ‘classical’ look. She added black nylon gloves and patent-leather pumps, and the highlight of the dress was the curl on her forehead.
Talking about her look, Latson said, “I wanted to step out of the box for sure and just give a classic look. I feel like people haven’t really given that in the draft in recent years. So, I just wanted to be a little different and step outside of my comfort zone.”

And when the Los Angeles Sparks selected her at number 20, the look got a different meaning altogether. The player was also happy with her selection and said, “It’s just a surreal moment. It’s a dream come true. LA is a great city. I love the culture that they have there. I’m excited to meet my coaches and my teammates, and I’m just ready to get to work. … God wanted me here for a reason, and I’m going to take it in with everything that I have.”

But now the real work begins for the guard as she will be tested against the top players and even her teammates in the league.
Taniya Latson Needs To Prove Herself
Latson promised a breakout year for the Gamecocks, and her performances helped her side reach the finals. Now in the WNBA, the rookie joins a stacked roster as a versatile scoring guard, expected to immediately bolster the second unit. During her college career, she proved her efficiency as a secondary scorer and improved her defense, which fits coach Lynne Roberts’ fast-paced, high-efficiency system.

With veteran guards like Kelsey Plum and Ariel Atkins holding starting spots, Latson’s impact will likely come from bringing instant energy, scoring punch, and elite perimeter defense off the bench.
She can specifically excel in transition, exploiting tired defenses when rotating in for starters. Her ability to finish at the rim through contact should provide the Sparks with consistent offense and flourish with Plum’s guidance, too.
