Everyone had their calendars marked on April 13 for the 2026 WNBA draft. With the talent in the class and also the incoming international stars, it was one of the most intriguing and yet full of suspense drafts. Awa Fam entered as one of the top prospects from Spain and lived up to the hype, landing the third overall pick.
As much as the players showed their on-court abilities, their off-court appearances were also very eye-catching. Hollywood actress Anne Hathaway even had a special message for the players’ fashion, promoting her ‘Devil Wears Prada 2’ movie.
But as she said, ‘That’s All’ in the end, the work behind all the dress-up was equally crafty as the 19-year-old star’s stylist recently opened up on the same.

Stylist Opened Up On Synergetic Vibes With Awa Fam
Having a connection in the WNBA with Breanna Stewart and also in the NBA with Chris Paul, a seasoned stylist, Courtney May knew exactly what would work for the Valencia star. She mentioned that when they first met, there was a direct connection and synergy between them, making her work easier.
“We explored a range of looks for Awa, but this Shopbop piece by Turkish designer Siedrés immediately stood out for its effortless yet striking balance,” Mays said. “The moment she put it on, her face lit up, and her whole energy shifted—that’s always the sign we’ve found something special in a fitting.”

According to Mays, they particularly liked the dress for her because of how authentically it represented Fam’s natural style.
While easy-going and effortless on the court, Fam stole the spotlight with her fashion; she also worked hard toward nailing the attire for the Draft. “We wanted to find something that … made me feel confident walking into such an important night,” Fam said.
On the court, though, the player was one of the highly sought-after forwards, who at one point was probably the number one pick, too. Although she landed with the Seattle Storm, the player is ready to take over the whole league.
Awa Fam To Make Immediate Impact In WNBA
Before entering the league, Fam mentioned that she idolizes A’ja Wilson and praised the Aces’ star. The youngest draftee in the 2026 draft possesses the physical tools and basketball IQ to become a generational megastar in the WNBA. Already standing at 6-foot-4 with a powerful frame and remarkable mobility, her primary attributes include elite footwork in the post, a soft touch around the rim, and a high-level passing ability rarely seen in players her size.

Competing at a professional level in Europe at a young age gives her a significant “pro-ready” advantage over traditional collegiate prospects. Her playing style draws strong comparisons to Aliyah Boston; both utilize superior positioning and strength to dominate the glass while acting as a vital hub for the offense.
However, Fam shows flashes of a more aggressive transition game, similar to a young Jonquel Jones, combining interior force with the potential to handle the ball and facilitate on the break.
