The WNBA season is underway with six teams playing their opening games. The mega matchup will be a late fixture between the Indiana Fever and Dallas Wings, featuring two of the best guards in the league, Caitlin Clark and Paige Bueckers. There had been a lot of chatter around the Fever franchise failing to sell tickets for the season opener, but the game would be much more entertaining with two contenders looking to get their noses in front with early wins.
Amid this mega faceoff, the Fever guard was asked about her dream one-on-one matchup from any era and any league, and she chose Stephen Curry.

Caitlin Clark Chooses Stephen Curry As Dream One-On-One Matchup
Just before the season tip-off, ESPN interviewed the former Iowa star. Host Mallika Andrews threw a question at the playmaker about her possible opponent in the 1-on-1 matchups.
After giving it a thought, CC said, “Well, I would get killed by every NBA player but…Steph Curry.” While Andrews loved the answer, she gave her another option, the Celtics’ guard Payton Pritchard. The 24-year-old also loved the idea and hilariously went with that answer.

There was criticism of the 2024 rookie in the past; many questioned her ability to win the championships and even called her a ‘hyped’ player in the league. One athlete who went through all these ‘phases’ and achieved greatness was ‘King’ James. So it was natural that he connected with the WNBA playmaker more easily, and the player also found great support from him.
“LeBron has just been there to support me more than anything,” Clark said in the interview. “He understands the microscope that I’m under, and the spotlight that’s on me, and I think he just wants to be there for me more than anything. When I was hurt last year, he reached out and was like, ‘Is there any way I can help you? Is there anybody I can connect you with?’“
