The Indiana Fever lost their season opener against the Dallas Wings, and there were obvious reasons for that loss on the floor. Caitlin Clark also spoke on those shortfalls, making it clear where to improve in upcoming games.
The team adjusted well in the second game and took control of the proceedings from the start at the Crypto.com Arena. But at halftime, the Fever playmaker lost over a call by the referee and went to address the same, receiving a first technical in the season.

Massive Fine For Caitlin Clark Over Her First Technical Foul
In the final possession of the first half, CC wanted a whistle on the defensive end, but after not getting it, she aggressively complained to the referee on the way to the locker room.
The official quickly handed her a technical foul, which puts the player on alert for further such errors. For the first technical foul, she will now have to pay $500 in fines, up from $300 last season.

While the two-time All-Star welcomed the new CBA with open arms, she will now have to pay fines under the new structure. As per the new CBA deal, the first three foul fines now cost $500, and the next four technical fouls attract $1000. The eighth foul will cost $1500 and a one-game suspension, resetting the count. The fine structure differs for the Playoffs, with a limited number of games.

After a blockbuster offseason and free-agent signings, the Fever and Wings filled their rosters with offensive firepower and balanced it with defensive reinforcements. In the opening game, though, both teams put on a masterclass, battling for every possession, and finished with a 107-104 score in favor of the visitors.
It was the first time EVER that both teams scored 100+ points in the season opener, setting the tone for the rest of the season.
