The WNBA CBA deal stole headlines for the massive raise and new terms that resulted in the players’ massive deals. Amid this, Kelsey Plum tried to be different and signed a $999,999 contract.
In a recent interview with YouTuber Austin Franklin, Plum gave him two reasons for leaving the Dollar on the table. While one of those reasons was taxation, a tax expert explained her mistake.

Tax Expert Thrashes Kelsey Plum’s Claims
The veteran guard claimed that she saved $13,000 by not signing a million-dollar contract with the team. She claimed that she avoided a higher tax bracket and also was referencing the California Mental Health Services Act, known as the MHSA or “millionaire’s tax.”
However, tax expert Joe Pompliano shared a post showing her mistake in calculations. In the post, he wrote, “Someone please explain marginal tax rates to Kelsey Plum. If she earned one more dollar, she would be taxed 13 cents…not $13,000. And even if that were true, she is ignoring jock taxes, endorsement income, etc.”

Fans also reacted to her claim and the analysis given by the tax expert, making fun of the WNBA star’s blunder. Ironically, the player even made fun of that missing one dollar in one of her posts.
