The New York Liberty GM Jonathan Kolb promised a grand opportunity in the 2026 WNBA Season but highlighted the importance of keeping the championship roster intact. Although the franchise hired a new coach, they trusted their roster and offered top players offers for the 2026 season.
But now, apart from the core, the front office is also looking to secure the services of its French sharpshooter in free agency.

New York Liberty Looking To Bring Back Top Shooting Guard
After Breanna Stewart’s confirmation to stay with the Liberty team, both Sabrina Ionescu and Jones also hinted at their intentions to stay with the NY franchise. Although this makes the front office’s work a bit easier during free agency, they are now looking to secure their sharpshooter, Marine Johannes.
According to reports, the 31-year-old guard received a reserved qualifying offer, a one-year, non-guaranteed minimum contract for players with three or fewer years of service in the league. While it is interesting to see how the player will view the offer, given the quality and performance she put in last season.
Liberty fully intend to re-sign Marine Johannes, per @madkenney.
