Sophie Cunningham gave away personal goals to re-sign with the Indiana Fever and play alongside Caitlin Clark. While she highlighted that the team’s last season’s performance played a huge part in her decision, it also shows her close bond and connection with the Fever playmaker, who urged the star to come back for the 2026 season.
And from their on-and off-court chemistry, fans would argue that the ‘enforcer’ would take a bullet to protect Clark, which also made her a fan favorite. But Cunningham’s recent answer, though, surprised everyone when she excluded CC from the greatest shooters’ list.

Sophie Cunningham Explains Exclusion of Caitlin Clark
On a fun questionnaire, the former Missouri star was making a ‘Mount Rushmore’ of basketball’s top shooters, naming her top four. While the 2024 rookie made her name as one of the lethal scorers in the game, she chose Stephen Curry at number one and then added Kayla McBride, Ray Allen and Diana Taurasi.
When asked about CC, she said, “I think like once her career is over, I mean, she’s going to be up there. But like for now, I think those are my four.”
Curry and Allen are top shooters from the three-point range and take the top two positions in the made range shot, while Taurasi leads the WNBA stat sheet with 1,447 made three-pointers. Clark is a long way from those numbers, but her efficiency is closer to those stars, making her a strong candidate for such a list.

Being on that list might not matter as she aims for the title this season and also already got high praise from Diana Taurasi for her game with the USA national team.
Caitlin Clark Excited To Get Sophie Cunningham Back
The Indiana Fever’s main aim was to keep their 2025 semifinal team intact to challenge for the championship, and they signed Sophie Cunningham as their final piece from the roster. While Clark had been asking for it, she shared her excitement on social media after the announcement.
The 2024 rookie showed love for Cunningham’s arrival and shared the Fever’s post on her Instagram story.
