It’s that time of the year when fans will get regular updates on WNBA stars’ on-court action with the 2026 season getting underway on May 8. While teams will play at least two exhibition games before the actual season starts, players are already reporting to training camps, and there is much enthusiasm for the new season. Fans will be happy to see Caitlin Clark back on the floor after the star played in just 13 games in the 2025 season.
Considering her lengthy absence, though, coach Stephanie White is looking to take cautious steps in the training camp for her star playmaker. Earlier, White opened up on Clark’s Team USA debut, and yet she is looking at a long-term goal and aiming for CC’s fitness first.

Stephanie White Speaks About Caitlin Clark’s Training Program
The former Iowa star participated in the December and March training camps for Team USA and even won an MVP Award for his performance with the national team at the FIBA World Cup Qualifiers. While the WNBA season is longer and the Fever have the toughest schedule in the 2026 season, the coach is looking to go easy on the 24-year-old star.
Speaking on a podcast, White said, “We also want to be smart. She doesn’t need every rep in practice. We want to continue to ramp her up. It’s a long season, 44 games, and we play a heavy cadence of games in a week.”

The coach added, “I don’t want to say ease her into it, because she’s ready for camp, but we want to make sure that we manage the reps, and what kinds of reps she’s getting, just to build her up so that she’s ready to go, and we don’t have any kind of questions about that.”
