The Indiana Fever made their intentions clear by announcing Kelsey Mitchell as their priority signing for the 2026 season very early in the offseason. The front office handed her the first-ever supermax contract in the league, as the franchise later explained the reason for signing the veteran guard to the max contract.
Players like Caitlin Clark and Aliyah Boston already highlighted her as the ‘must have’ player on the roster, and now every 2026 Fever teammate who already played with her shared their views on what Mitchell is for the franchise. GM Amber Cox gave her reaction to their views, too.

Amber Cox Reacts To Fever Players’ Comments On Kelsey Mitchell
The Fever reunited the ‘core’ of the franchise, adding KM to the lineup in free agency. While it was an obvious decision, there were speculations about her possible departure from the program, too. But now, while she will be in Indy color again for the 2026 season, her teammates showed love for the guard.
Sophie Cunningham said, “Kelsey Mitchell is everything.” While Cailtin Clark shared the same sentiment and said, “Kelsey embodies what the Fever is all about.” Lexie Hull called her the cornerstone of the organization, while Coach White mentioned that she is the hardest worker on the court she has ever seen. GM Cox also showed her love by resharing the post with a heart emoji.

Kelsey Mitchell Shows Loyalty Towards Her Second Family
Returning for her ninth season, the All-Star guard, who recently signed a major deal to stay in Indianapolis, emphasized her deep connection to the city and team during the 2026 Indiana Fever Media Day.
“Indy’s been my second family. Everything I’ve been through the last eight years, I don’t think there’s any other place that was greater for me,” Mitchell said, as she prioritized staying where she developed into a star. She added that the relationships she built with her teammates, including Aaliyah Boston and Caitlin Clark, created “family vibes” she couldn’t walk away from.
Following the passing of her father, her connection to the city strengthened, with the organization and fans providing immense support. “I knew that I wanted to be a Fever girl again… for all the right reasons,” she shared, solidifying her commitment to leading Indiana to a championship peak.
