Angel Reese dreamt of working in movies while in college. While the player acted in a couple of Netflix movies, her own professional journey is not short of a movie story.
At the end of her second year in the WNBA, the player had some ‘salty’ relations with her franchise, the Chicago Sky, which resulted in her trade to the Atlanta Dream. Ironically, the Sky franchise also upgraded its roster after her trade, leaving everyone confused about its strategy.
Although both sides were acting on their own, the 2024 rookie will play her first game against the Sky franchise only, which makes things more interesting. It was an obvious question at the press conference.

Angel Reese Talks About Facing Her Former Team
Fans backed the 24-year-old as the Sky went all-in in free agency. The player, though, remained silent and focused on her training and work with the Dream team. So when the reporters asked her about her thoughts on playing against the Windy City team, she was very mature about her answer.
Reese said, “Just another exciting opportunity for me to be in Chicago. I loved my experience there. It was amazing, and seeing a lot of familiar faces on Wednesday is going to be good.”

The two-time All-Star also added that she’s not looking to get any kind of revenge and just wants to play with her new teammates, and it just happened to be against her former teammates.
Interestingly, Reese had good things to say about the Sky franchise in her first press conference with the Dream teammates. The forward averaged 14.1 points, 12.9 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.4 steals in 64 games for the Chicago team. But the dream coach sees more output from the star in the game.
Coach Karl Smesko Highlights Angle Reese’s Improvements
All the assessments around the Reese trade were mainly circling around her rebounding abilities, which were more evident on the court. But the head coach, Karl Smesko, publicly highlights the importance of the star and her improvements.
“Adding Angel, everybody understands what an elite rebounder she is… but the way her game has grown to a playmaker, decision maker, a competitor, this is exactly what we needed for this team,” Smesko said.

With top players at most positions, the Dream team is among the top five starting lineups in the 2026 season. It’s interesting to see how they will combine on the floor on game day.
