The mood at the Indiana Fever team is joyous with the strong roster in the 2026 season. The front office kept Caitlin Clark at the heart of its development plan and added 2025 season players and also impactful stars to complement the playmaker.
One of those stars is Sophie Cunningham, who spent the 2025 season with the Fever and sacrificed her personal goals to return to the Fever franchise where she felt a ‘special’ connection and chance to win the title.
While the player’s motto is clear, her bond with CC is even clearer and stronger as both stars engage in fun banter every now and then. Recently, the former Missouri girl was once again the target for the 2024 rookie.

Stephanie White and co. are not looking to keep any loopholes to miss a title opportunity in the 2026 season. Off the court, though, there is a lot of fun, and the Fever franchise shared one such fun event involving the 29-year-old forward.
The video shared showed Cunningham having a great time with five puppies, where they cuddled each other and had fun. Reacting to the video, Clark wrote, “Muted immediately.”

The Indiana Fever entered the preseason game with Monique Billings starting her first game for the Fever team. Clark already praised Billings’ addition, and now, after the game, she highlighted Cunningham’s impact.
“I think the thing I appreciate about Sophie more than anything is like she’s never intimidated by the moment. She rises to the occasion every single time. She’s going to have her teammates’ backs… And when our backs are against the wall, she’s one of the loudest voices out there, fighting and scrapping,” Clark said.
“No matter the situation—whether we’re down 20 or up 20—it’s the same Sophie. Every team in this league would probably love to have a player like that. I’m really fortunate she’s on our side,” Clark added.
Cunningham had been an integral part of the Fever’s 2025 season success, finishing the season as the fourth-highest scorer and rebounder despite featuring in only 30 games.
