Caitlin Clark and Paige Bueckers. Two of the biggest names in the WNBA right now. While the Indiana Fever star had to end her season after only 13 games last year, fans missed her rivalry with Bueckers. But this year, the enthusiasm is shooting through the roof.
As both stars are in great shape, the fans are anticipating an epic battle. Thankfully, the WNBA realm did not have to wait till the official start of the season. In the latest preseason game, when the Indiana Fever and the Dallas Wings faced off, both Clark and Bueckers delivered some stellar performances.

How Did Caitlin Clark And Paige Bueckers Fare In The WNBA Preseason?
The 24-year-old Fever star was impressed with her team’s free agency picks. Now, it was time to put it to the test. As the Wings and Fever clashed, the outcome did not disappoint. Living up to the hype, it was a cracker of a game. Immediately, as the game began, Dallas stepped up on the gas. In the very first quarter, Wings took a 15-2 lead, from where they did not look back.
Dominating the game throughout, the Wings clinched a 95-80 win over Stephanie White’s Indiana. However, that did not deprive the fans from witnessing an epic face-off. Playing in her second year, Bueckers dropped 20 points in 20 minutes of play. And if that was not enough, last year’s Rookie of the Year also shot 8-of-12 from the field.

On the contrary, the 2024 Rookie of the Year chipped in with 21 points in just 16 minutes of gametime. Speaking of her shooting, Clark had 4-of-16 while converting 11 times out of 13 attempts from the free throw line. Surely, if this is any indication, the upcoming season will be a banger.

Meanwhile, despite the upbeat vibes, the 2-time WNBA All-Star gave her team a scary moment on the field.
How Serious Is Caitlin Clark’s Injury?
The last thing the Indiana Fever wants is another injury to the former Iowa star. Last year, it took some elaborate week-by-week plan to get Clark back to 100% fitness. Coming into the preseason game, the 24-year-old thudded to the ground after a hard clash with Dallas’ Alanna Smith. As the clash resulted in a Flagrant 1 call, the 2024 WNBA Assists leader could be seen limping out of the game. Thankfully, the Fever star assured after the game that the injury was not a serious one.

“I feel good... just landed on my kneecap really hard. I know there’s a committee of people that really wanted them (the refs) to start calling things, and I thought they did a great job of that. Honestly, I thought the refs were great, and it’s preseason so you’re probably going to see more fouls called. I expect that number to drop. But I think overall, it’s going to improve the product,” said Clark.
