The 2026 Indiana Fever is much sharper and more aggressive on the offensive end, as the front office identified players who suit Coach Stephanie White’s and mega star Caitlin Clark’s gameplay. While the team ranks in the top five sides right from the start of the season, they lost their opening game against the Wings.
In the second game, though, the side responded and delivered a balanced performance at the Crypto.com arena to record an 87-78 win. CC was happy with the performance and, in the press conference, pointed out the ‘exact condition’ that helped her side win.

Caitlin Clark Puts a Condition Where Indiana Fever Will Definitely Win
After the loss to the Wings, the Fever coaching staff identified multiple areas the team could improve. The 24-year-old star also pointed out the defensive lapses as the major issue. But the side showed much better performance against the LA team, and the two-time All-Star was proud of the same.
“We need to be disciplined defensively. Kelsey Plum did a tremendous job getting downhill. Cam came in and played big minutes for them. Overall, that’s what the scene is gonna be like,” Clark said. “We’re gonna win a lot of games if the other team scores 78 points, so I am proud of us.”

It’s important to note that right at the start of the season, coach White mentioned playing Clark off the ball more to ease pressure off the playmaker. And just into the second game of the season, the former Iowa star is also adapting to the situations.
Caitlin Clark Adapting To New System
Playing as the key playmaker and pace setter in the game, fans are used to watching the 2024 rookie holding the ball more often. But it was also tiring work for her as opponents used to tear her down with a full-court press.
But now she is adapting to the new system and playing off the ball more. The Fever team worked on the tactics and handed the ball to their megastar only in the clutch moments, freeing her and also the offense on the side.

So far, the tactics have worked well, but the side needs to be careful not to lose possessions or commit turnovers in such situations.
