The New CBA deal opened big money options for players, and there are already new records in the league. A’ja Wilson signed the most lucrative contract in the league, while Boston signed the highest value contract with the Fever team. Dearica Hamby is another millionaire in the league now after she signed a three-year, $3.4 million extension with the Los Angeles Sparks.
But the player is looking to take smarter steps with the ‘new money’ as the 32-year-old is looking to secure her future and her family, too.

Dearica Hamby Enters Business With Her Nine-Year-Old Daughter
Talking to the media about her plans for the future, Hamby mentioned that she was not good with the decisions early on and having kids definitely changes your perspective. It’s just finding a middle ground between enjoying and investing.
Hamby said, “Obviously, more money, more problems. I was in this tax bracket last year, so just being smart about it. I’m going to continue to live the way I’ve been living. I’m not going to overindulge because there’s more money on the table.”

But the Spaks superstar is not the only player in the WNBA making ‘smart’ decisions to cover up for the future, as the new superstar players with their hefty pay cheques are also taking over the entrepreneurship, living their other dreams.
Dearica Hamby Joins ‘New-Age’ WNBA Stars Taking Over Businesses
It’s all new WNBA right now. The league, founded in 1996, saw massive changes in its structure, fan following, and also operations, and so have the players. Hamby’s ‘project’ is one of the examples of many where the WNBA stars turned into founders and CEO of different companies, either to live their dream or to make a difference in people’s lives.
Angel Reese is one of the most successful entrepreneurs, who declared a six-figure profit in her business during the 2025 off-season. Lexie Hull also started a new cosmetic business, where she received love from her teammate, Caitlin Clark, who will also wear the makeup during the games.
It’s interesting to see how the players are not only earning through league salaries and endorsements but also flourishing in their own businesses, and Hamby will also look to join the same ‘league’.
