Caitlin Clark is perhaps the biggest name in the WNBA at the moment. Touted as the face of the league, the former Iowa star has been phenomenal in creating the buzz around women’s sports, which has had some significant cash flow coming in. However, the Indiana Fever star is not just concerned about her own game. She is often spotted trying to uplift her peers, too.
For example, Clark recently heaped praises on UCLA coach Cori Close. But there was one incident when the 2-time WNBA All-Star ‘hurt’ Raven Johnson’s feelings. Delving into the topic, Candace Parker pointed out how the incident with Clark changed Johnson into an impressive star.

Candace Parker Speaks About ‘Awkward’ Caitlin Clark-Raven Johnson Interaction
As a matter of fact, the 2024 Rookie of the Year does have some history with Johnson. During their college days, the duo met with each other in a game involving South Carolina and Iowa. Now then, in the middle of the game, the Fever star decided to wave off Johnson and stopped guarding her on the perimeter. Surely, this viral moment was a disrespectful memory for Johnson. Interestingly, as the WNBA season is coming closer, the Fever front office picked up Johnson to team up with Clark.
Speaking on how the situation would pan out, Parker stated on the ‘Post Moves’ podcast, “I can’t wait to hear about that first practice where it’s going to be a little awkward. I mean, I know that Caitlin Clark and probably talked since then but it’s got to be a little you know, I mean, you a defensive player like her like you’re going to come in you’re probably going to be playing against the first unit to be honest with you.”

Surely, this will be quite an incredible storyline to ponder upon. Following the incident with the 2024 number one overall pick, Johnson made a touching confession. The Gamecocks’ star stated that she went over the video more than 100 times. She also added how the memory has ‘hurt’ her and impacted the game. Thankfully, trying to improve, Johnson made some galloping progress. So much so that she is now at par with Clark to play alongside her.

Meanwhile, coming into the Fever, Johnson is eager to learn everything she can to up her game further.
Raven Johnson Wants To Be a Sponge At Indiana Fever
Ready for her rookie season, Johnson is expected to come off the bench initially. And while she has improved her game significantly, the Gamecocks’ star feels that there is a lot to learn from her Indiana Fever teammates. Sharing the locker room with the likes of Aliyah Boston, Sophie Cunningham, and more, Johnson looked thrilled.
“Aliyah Boston, Caitlin Clark, Kelsey Mitchell — I think I’ll learn a lot from them. I’m going to be a sponge. I’m probably going to be gnat, too, because I’m going to ask them a lot of questions. … They like to win. I think that that’s really big,” said Johnson via the Indiana Fever website.
With characters like Cunningham coming in, the journey will surely be a fun-filled one for Raven Johnson going forward.
