The league did well to wrap up the expansion draft, free agency, and the WNBA draft to get closer to the actual schedule for the start of the 2026 season. The Indiana Fever even released its 16-player training camp roster, showing a positive intent entering the 2026 season. But there are still multiple free agents in the league, looking for contract offers and even approaching the franchises for a chance. One of them is Natasha Cloud.
The Liberty guard played one season in New York and formed a strong bond with the core, but the guard is still without a contract and recently opened up on her situation.

Natasha Cloud Gets Emotional On Unresolved Free Agency Situation
The New York Liberty failed miserably in the 2025 season with their first-round exit, failing to defend their title. Though the injuries played a key role in the franchise’s fate, the management looked to revamp the side. Apart from its championship-winning core, Liberty signed Satou Sabally as a mega addition for the team.
But there is no update in the cloud, and the guard spoke her heart out in her recent post. “I’ve given my heart to every team and community I’ve been part of, never fully knowing if the impact I hoped for was truly felt,” she wrote.
Natasha Cloud shared a message on Threads as she remains one of the WNBA's top unsigned free agents.

“In this moment, though, receiving so much love, support, and advocacy means everything. It’s a powerful reminder that the impact I’ve wanted to make beyond the court is real — and aligned with what I believe God has called me to do through this game. I’m okay. Just taking things in; even if they weren’t what I expected, and trusting I’ll be alright,” Cloud added.

While there had been many theories about the former champion’s current status, a WNBA podcaster highlights one possible reason for the same.
WNBA Podcaster Points Out Reason For Natasha Cloud’s Status
YouTube content creator Mick was one of the analysts who spoke about possible reasons for the veteran guard’s free agency issue. With 15 teams in the league and no one making an offer, it is certainly confusing.
“You’ve now got a lot of teams that just can’t afford a Natasha Cloud. And then, a lot of the teams that can afford a Natasha Cloud, probably don’t even want a Natasha Cloud. That’s where the problem is,” Mick said. “Portland is trying to lose…Portland might go 3-41…Those fans are going to be really excited when JuJu Watkins rocks up.”
Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I don't see the Liberty re-signing Natasha Cloud at this point.

The Liberty don't have much financial flexibility with their new "core four." And based on their signings, I imagine Ionescu starts at PG, with Pauline Astier as her backup. https://t.co/8C7ecqIasY
With the number of days left for the 2026 season, fans would love to see the inspirational player join a probable contender team to get along with the side and also have her share of the new CBA deal.
