The WNBA 2026 season will bring many new areas of interest for fans. With the latest CBA sanctioned, increased salaries are expected to raise player competitiveness. Now then, amid all the talking points, one of the biggest is surely the chemistry between Paige Bueckers and Azzi Fudd.
After a long period of speculation, Fudd was finally drafted by the Dallas Wings as the number 1 overall pick. Soon, the interest around the former UConn Huskies duo began to skyrocket. As questions began to surface about their personal relationship, Bueckers decided it was time for her to speak up.

Paige Bueckers Delivers A Strong Message To The Critics
Ever since Azzi Fudd was drafted by the Dallas Wings, analysts and fans have proposed various permutations and combinations. Interestingly, the relationship between the two also came to the forefront. Many critics began speculating about whether the duo had split. Shedding light on the matter, the 2025 Rookie of the Year delivered quite a blunt statement.
“Quite frankly, I believe me and Azzi’s personal relationship is nobody’s business but our own, and what we choose to share is completely up to us. Me and Azzi have always been the utmost professional. We’ve always conducted ourselves as such, and we’ve never let anything that happens off the court carry on to the court. That’s what we continue to do,” Bueckers said in a presser on Monday.

Surely, such a statement from the 23-year-old will further ignite the discussion. Earlier this month, as Fudd made her first presser for Dallas, her relationship with Bueckers was in the spotlight. However, when a reporter asked for more details about the romantic chemistry, Wings’ PR stepped in and deflected the question.

Paige Bueckers Shrugs Off Allegations About Her Influencing The Azzi Fudd Draft
Initially, there were speculations about how Jose Fernandez was not keen on signing Fudd. Interestingly, when the draft came along, Wings were the first to call the 2025 NCAA tournament MOP. Immediately, allegations surfaced that the 2025 Rookie of the Year had something to do with influencing the front office.
Speaking on the matter, Bueckers said, “Azzi Fudd was a No 1 draft pick because she earned it, and it had nothing to do with me and everything to do with who she is as a human being, who she is a basketball player, her resilience, her strength and her career-best year at UConn.”
Thus, with a lot going on, all eyes will be on how things pan out between the two.
